CenterExplains the fake-poll hoax, media vetting failures, and its real cost to a Democratic Senate campaign1 source
“Sure, a point was proven. Polling is broken”Mallory McMorrow, former Democratic Michigan Senate candidate, quoted by PBS NewsHour · saying a fabricated Wedgewood poll showing her in single digits dried up donations and volunteers before she quit the race
“Maybe so, but it's kind of suspicious that they happened to release this statement on the very day that they got caught”Andrew Gelman, Columbia professor of statistics and political science, quoted by PBS NewsHour · doubting Wedgewood's claim that the fraud was always meant as an experiment

PBS reported that Wedgewood "revealed on Tuesday that the vast majority of its data had been fabricated," and quoted a Columbia statistician who found its timing "kind of suspicious." It noted independent outlets had flagged the firm months earlier and placed Carr's warning at the end. [231]

MAGATreats fake polls as coordinated pro-Democrat manipulation, possibly to game prediction markets2 sources
Tim PoolOct 22
“My presumption is that these institutions are pretending to be social experiments, but the real goal is to manipulate the voters into believing Democrats are more popular than they really are.”Tim Pool, host · rejecting Wedgewood's 'social experiment' explanation and alleging deliberate manipulation of voters ahead of the election
“So the question then becomes, are these polls being dropped so that people will wager on prediction markets and say, I think the Democrats going to win?”Tim Pool, host · suggesting fabricated polls could be used to move betting markets for profit, not only to sway voters

Tim Pool said, tying the scandal to Trump's claim that polls are fake. Ben Shapiro's Daily Wire segment argued the firm's numbers leaned left: "In other words, they are push-polling." Both MAGA receipts used the episode to discount polls showing Democrats ahead.

Russian diesel exporters gained legal access to the US market when OFAC issued General License 135 on Oct. 9, 2026. It authorizes sale, delivery, offloading and importation, including into the United States, of Russian-origin diesel through April 7, 2027 (OFAC license text, OFAC recent action). Witkoff conveyed Trump's thanks for the deal to Putin on Oct. 21. [177][222][101] The license itself sets no volume. The 300,000-tonne first shipment is a figure from Russian officials and Trump, relayed by the Guardian, so it is a claim and not a contract. [177] Ukraine pays in lost sanctions leverage, through a waiver of the Russia sanctions regulations (31 CFR parts 587 and 589). The license bars any debit to accounts of Russia's central bank, National Wealth Fund or Finance Ministry, which limits what the waiver does for Moscow's state finances. [101][222] The license was signed by OFAC Director Bradley T. Smith, and the reporting says Trump directed it. [101][222] No lobbying, donor or filing record found ties the exporters to the decision. Putin's investment envoy Kirill Dmitriev attended the meetings per news reports. [568]›

Republican candidates backed by MAGA Inc. are the intended beneficiaries of a super PAC that reported $424.4M raised and $415.8M cash on hand through August 2026 (FEC, MAGA Inc.). No Going Back PAC Inc., an independent-expenditure-only super PAC, registered Sept. 1, 2026 (FEC, No Going Back PAC). The AP-reported figure of nearly $277M in spending since September, including $200M to No Going Back PAC and $25M to Safety & Affordability PAC, is after the FEC's processed data and is not confirmed in the record we could open. [236] Donors pay through unlimited super PAC contributions; reporting names Diane Hendricks, who gave $25M (Wisconsin Examiner), and Stephen Schwarzman. [236] Reportedly, the late start means ad rates sometimes more than five times higher, a premium that goes to broadcasters. [236] The reporting attributes the timing and targets to Trump's political operation, and the donors' gifts to MAGA Inc. are the reported link between winners and decider. [236]
